The theme of Babel is a strong expression of the globalization of the world. This essay will make a deep research of this movie’s theme using cross-culture communication theory and discuss Misunderstanding and communication of the theme.The essay adopts the methods of case analysis, screening out the stories which are most important. Using Gudykunst’s The Anxiety and Uncertainly Management Theory, the essay analyzes various factors caused anxiety and uncertainty specifically to every case respectively so that it can view the theme. According to the content of the film, the essay will interpret positive and negative communications in this movie. The essay will obtain conclusion through analyzing and comparing two kinds of cases.Misunderstanding and communication is the movie’s theme. The essay will reveal the theme through analyzing them, especially analyzing successful cross-culture communication to reach more original conclusion. As the film said "the brightest lights in the darkest night", the theme will pay more attention to "achieve real communication" which is also globalization’s same theme. In cross-culture communication of globalization, we should keep optimistic attitude, be hopeful of cross-culture communication’s prospect.
