| As the growth of economic globalization in depth more and more qualified translators areneeded now, as a result translation training and teachings have obtained increasing attentions.In China, Great progresses have been made in translations academically so far, and theapplication of translation theories has been further improved. However, when they switch tothe translation empirically, it may be pessimistic to discover that it does little help in thecourse of training and teaching, and quite many traditional teaching approaches are stillpopular in translation teaching in many universities where the translators have been fostered.Therefore how to use the latest appropriate theories to manipulate the translation teaching andhave a proper understanding on it, as well as to seek new ways for the development oftranslation teaching are worthwhile topics for us to trying now.The research of translation may be distributed into two fields: the study of translationprocesses and the study of its products. More has been worked on the translation productsthan the process so long, even if some scholars lays out some fundamental rules or normsthrough the process of translation practice, which have worked well to certain extent on it, butthey haven’t got a clue on how it is supposed to happen, thus there are many shortcomingsexisting. On the basis of Discourse Functional Grammar, the research tries to analysis theconduct of translation act and the dynamic process of its representations, and to formulate atranslation discourse representation by the way how it happens and develops. At last, itemploys the findings into the real case study tending to find proper reasonings for theproblems which are always encountered in practical world.The thesis is a case study on the discourse representations in C-E translation practice.First, it deals with the translation from the perspective of communication, and tries to find thecommon features in the relation of the translator’s discourse representation and the translationrepresentation process. Second, it probes into the translation in a translator-oriented model bythe organization of discourse act representation based on the Functional Discourse Grammar,which displays a top-down translation representation by the contribution of conceptions, semantics, syntax, etc. Furthermore, on account to the advantages of the analyzing of thetranslation representation process on the student’s translation practice, the thesis studiesstudents’ representations and their discourse generation processes, and tried to find the certainsettlement for the discovered issues on the process. It is self-evident that the study of therepresentation process in translation may enhence the understanding on a communicativetranslation in some cognitive way, and offers a new insight to the future studies and referencewhen developing the translation theories. |
