By investigating the recontextualization process of discourses about officialdocuments on post-disaster reconstruction of Wenchuan earthquake with the strategiesof intertextuality, interdiscursivity and dialogicity, this paper aims at revealing twoaspects: as a way of practice, how discourses participate in social activity; thepracticing process and feather of discourse through the operation of recontextualizing.The analyzing data for this study are Notice from the General Office of the StateCouncil and the Implement opinion from the General Office of the Sichuan province.Based on the application of recontextualization and other discursive strategies,this paper discovers recontextualizing phenomenon is reflected in various forms, notonly from the macro perspective, but also from the micro textual perspective. In spiteof different contexts behind the Notice of the central government and the Implementopinion of the Sichuan province, when focusing on the kind of official document onpost-disaster reconstruction program, the operation of recontextualization manifeststhe process of discursive practice, which presents how the discursive functionpromote this kind of social practice and social activities. Besides, the relation betweenintertextuality, interdiscursivity and recontextualization, as well as the relationbetween dialogicity and recontextualization are discussed in this paper. Theconclusion is that on the basis of the official documents published from differentlevels of government, this paper views these official discourses as the concreteoperation of taking part in government work and social activities. Meanwhile, takingusage of the recontextualizing perspective to explain the official documents in thecontext of post-disaster reconstruction, this study reveals the process of discursivepractice with the employment and understanding of recontextualization.
