During the writing career of20years, Su Tong has been maintained with plentyof creative energy. From the early nineties, he began writing novels which containwide range of topics. The paper focuses on the narrative transfer problems, analyzesspecific performance in his novel, deeply studies multi-layered connotations,discusses the internal and external causes of transferring and defines the meaning andvalue of the narrative transfer.It is divided into three stages. They are the narrative background, survivalattitude and showing violence. The characteristics of each stage are analyzed indetails. The narrative background of the novel is from history to reality and thenhistory. Characters’ survival attitude the novel is from struggling to compromisingand then finding the way. The way of showing the violence is gradually from theinitial direct cold way to moderate way. The paper also contains the meaning of thephilosophical level and cultural level in Su Tong’s narrative transfer. Su Tong’sphilosophical thoughts and the southern culture are analyzed through the display ofthe history and reality of human living condition.The internal and external causes of Su Tong works of narrative transfer aremainly delved from Su Tong’s own writing attitude and socio-cultural environment.This shift is mainly stimulated the development of Su Tong’s own creative internaldriving force, and also affected by the cultural environment. A last, it’s defined themeaning and value of the narrative transfer meanwhile showed the main sense of thecontemporary writers needing to build a cultural identity.
