Drama is an integrated art, which involves performance, directing, music, dance,and many other kinds of art. The historical development of Chinese and Western dramatends to be different, which presents two different forms of performing arts. Westerndrama matured earlier, and became a brilliant chapter in the culture of human dramawith its complete system, rigorous structure, and different form and characteristics.Chinese Opera matured later; in addition to the objective factors of economicdevelopment and social system, its complexity and superb performing arts is the rootcause of its long process. It also has a special significance in the development of WorldTheater by The Freehand concept drama "story" as well as the stylized andvirtualization performance on stage.Contemporary theatre, although more emphasis on rational thinking, but in thecharacter image mold is authentic, the drama of vanguard, absurd drama also so.,finding critical characteristics and regularity, combining “reality” of western drama with“spiritual expression” of traditional Chinese opera, exploring the true meaning of theperforming arts in the face of the true performance of the false story. The first chapter ofthis paper presents a comprehensive introduction to the relationship between reason andimage (i.e. the relationship between the "Experience" and the "Performance" in theperforming art) as well as studies reviews in China and abroad. The second and thirdchapter presents detailed description of the nature of image; the relationship betweenpresence and performance; the right experience of creating characters in realistic drama;and the importance of “Experience” in the performance. Chapter four, besides anintroduction to traditional Chinese opera, compares the performance styles of theWestern drama with the Chinese ones, exploring the essence between them.All in all, deep exploration of theater performances, combining the traditionalmethods of acting with more artistic expressions, can make the actors become moreunified in “Experience” and “Performance”, and merging rational thinking and imagemaking.
