Chi Zijian, the name was recently well-known around modern Chinese literaturecircle. Beginning literature writing in1983, she with high latitude region Chinesesimpleness and cheerful disposition, wrote many works and brought the fresh-coolingair into the low-vitality Chinese literature circle. She has been written dozens of worksincluding novel, novelette and short story. Depending on these works, she won “Lu XunLiterature Award”,“Bingxi Prose Award”,and“Mao Dun Literature Award”.For everyexcellent writer, the writing inspiration came from life. Different from other writers, ChiZijian grew up in such “Black earth”(Heilongjiang) environment and got differentexperiences of great nature, human life, and longing for beautiful life. From her eyes offolk customs around Heilongjiang region, she recorded them in the form of literatureworks. Up to now she is a rare northeast Chinese writer and talent among female writers.Chi Zijian’s works, fulfilling modern readers for aesthetic expectation, were highlyappraised and focused, standing from new-generation Heilongjiang folk writers. Shebecame the synonym for new-generation Heilongjiang folk novels.In this article, Chi Zijian’s works, representative of new-generation Heilongjiangfolk novels, were studied as starting point. In the preface, it was instructed that currentregional folk culture and research actualities of Chi Zijian’s works. In Chapter1, therewas a brief survey of regional folklore novels. Considering from many aspects such asher growing up environment, human life and education experiment, her early writingstyle gradually emerged. In Chapter2, Folk imagery of Chi Zijian’s literature work(especially novels) was explained and analyzed. Based on distinctive folk imagery, itwas focused on folkways of production and life, time and festivals, deities and belief,language and art. Looking beyond appearance for the essence of folk culture, it wasexperienced that regional folk culture could make deep impression on a writer’s work,concerning its culture deposits. In Chapter3, comparing to local writers’ works and otherregional writers’ works, the features of Chi Zijian folklore novels were analyzed to ahigher level. Finally, it was conclusion, summarizing research results and faults. Theresearch method of the writer’s works combined with literature, history and philosophywas used to collect settle and grasp relevant documents for thesis topic. Finally arguments were found to support proof and make a conclusion:As representative ofNortheast Chinese folklore novel, Chi Zijian’s folklore works has typical features ofregional culture, and therefore provide much more space for further study of therelation between Northeast Chinese folk and writer’s novels.
