Double object construction, as a common construction, has drawn a lot of attention from many linguists both at home and abroad. Different schools of scholars have already studied double object constructions from various theoretical backgrounds, such as syntax, semantics and pragmatics. However, it has been found that qualitative analysis on double object constructions are much more than quantitative analysis. Based on Construction Grammar, this paper will investigate double object constructions from the perspective of collostructional analysis, which will make up the gaps in this field. The research data come from WECCL2.0, using Colligator which is software to extract data and then putting those data into specific software (Collo.Analysis) to analyze it. We get some results as follows:1) it indicates that we find thirty strong collexemes which are attracted by double object constructions. The strongest collexeme is "give", followed by "tell" and "bring".(2) It shows both Chinese learners and native speakers master the prototype of double object constructions much better than other double object constructions.(3) There are some extreme cases, indirect objects are neither human beings nor animacy; direct objects are concrete places or environment; direct objects may bring harm to indirect objects. This thesis is made up of five chaptersChapter One introduces an introduction of the present research, including the background, aim, significance of the research and the outline of the thesis.Chapter Two reviews the different definitions of constructions, illustrating Construction Grammar, the relevant researches of double object constructions both at home and abroad.Chapter Three involves the theoretical foundation, methodology and advantage of collostructional analysis as well as research design of the present study, including research questions, research hypotheses, the introduction of corpus and tools, experimental procedures, and the feasibility of the research will be presented in detail.Chapter Four focuses on the results of research, verifying hypotheses and then, we will make discussion about results.Chapter Five concludes the major findings of the present research, limitations and some suggestions for the further research in this field.
