With the development of the morden society,more and moresocial problems have appeared. It is high time that should payattention to emotion in our daily life. Hume’s emotionalism ethics areoffering new views for us to building our social moral.David Hume was an outstanding philosopher、 historian andeconomist in the eighteenth century of England. Hume had madespecial contributions in some subjects, such as politics、aesthetics andethics, and one of the most influential is his ethical thoughts. He’sethical thoughts is a vital link between the preceding and following andholds an important position in western ethical thoughts. An enquiry intoHume’s ethical thoughts could make us grasp the whole skeleton ofwestern ethical history, it took up an important position in history.Hume’s ethical thoughts consist of two parts: moral basic theoriesin purity and basic moral virtues in practical area. In the first part, wepresent a thorough investigation into Hume’s thoughts including moraldistinction from moral sense rather than reason, moral evaluation basedmotivation, useful and agreeable traits as the standard of virtue. Theabove reveal the important position of the emotion in Hume’s ethicalthoughts. In practical part, we explore artificial and natural virtues, andexpounded the significance of the distinction between artificial andnatural virtues——In order to emphasize the artificial of virtues. There aretwo points on Hume’s ethics characteristics,first, Hume based his ehticson the theory about human nature,and every one has basis ofmorality,which is founded on humen nature. Second,Hume believemthat moral just not an education theory,our understanding of morallearning from the perspective of practice construction.Hume’s ethics not only inherited and perfected the theory of theancient philosophers, but also gave much influence on later thoughts such as utilitarianism、Rawls’s politics. The opinion to care aboutimportant of emotion in Hume’s ethical thoughts is indispensable andvital for our society’s moral construction. Now days more and moreproblems appear with the development and the improvement of themarket economy, the reason is more and more people to pursuematerial life and the world’s diverse value systems impact on thetraditional moral system. It is important to pay attention to Hune’semotionalism ethics in our daily life according to learning the reasons ofsome phenomena and problems in real life.such as the problem of “isand ought”,it’s ture meaning is that the value judgment,which takes“ought” as copulation of propositions,is foung in valuefields——controlled by sentiment,rather than fact fields——controlledby reason, it can teach us how to respect others, and it is exactly thepractical significance that is given by Hume’s ethical thoughts.
