With the development of globalization, the tourism translation sees the increasingly important role of public signs, among which shop signs deserve more attention.Public signs, means "words and graphic symbols, facing the public, with an aim to notify, direct, prompt, display, warn and mark those kinds of information which is closely connected to life, produce and ecology"(Dai and Lv,2005:39). And shop signs refer to public signs in shopping centers, which intend to provide guidance, instructions and services, attract the consumers and perform the marketing function.Shop signs, as an important branch of public signs, are the integral part of cities’linguistic and humanitarian environment. Furthermore, appropriate bilingual shop signs could demonstrate our standard of modernization and internationalization, optimizing the investment environment and exerting great influence upon our reform and opening up to the outside world.The present thesis means to analyze C-E translation errors in shop signs from the perspective of Interlanguage theory. The whole thesis is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, a brief introduction to shop signs and current researches are presented. In the second chapter, the theoretical framework for C-E translation of shop signs are detailedly exhibited. In the third chapter, the main body of the thesis, errors occurred in this realm are demonstrated and analyzed on the basis of EA and IL theory. In the fourth chapter, the thesis advances tentative solutions for C-E translation errors in shop signs from theoretical and practical aspects.Through researches into errors in C-E translation, the thesis endeavours to standardize bilingual shop signs, and uplift cities’ international image, so as to pave the way towards much more agreeable internationalization.
