This thesis mainly makes study on the literary feature and style of Lier by comparing the related works of Tao Yanming and Lier.Tao (AD.365-427)is a famous pastoral poet who plays a great role in the history of Chinese literary. meanwhile,as a pioneer,he breaks a ground in the field of pastoral poem. Lier (1536-1584)is a master of literature from the time of EmperoeZhongzong to Xuanzu in Chosen dynasty. Together with Li Tui-xi he becomes the representative of Korean Confucianism.This thesis shall examine the literary feature of Tao Yanming and Lier. It requires an analysis on how the works of Tao Yanming exercises a great influence on Lierand further more, to discuss the formation of literary thought of Lier covering a time from the period of three kingdoms to Chosen dynasty.Tao’s poems expressed clearly on his admiration for idylic life, agreement for seclusion and praise for simplicity. Although Lier admitted that poetry should not be the only field for literary master, he still kept the idea that poetry should never be paid little attention.Poetry in his mind could be supportive in self-examination, by comparing the related works of Tao Yanming and Lier, this thesis draws such conclusions as:lier as an Enlightenment philosopher, is based on the thinking of Neo-Confucianism. in the mind of unity of man and nature, Tao composed his works on the foundation of "thinking purely".While the main tune of lier’s literary thought is to completely accept the Tao’s "thinking purely",so as to form his literary mind that nature can’t be seperated from man. Through analysis, it is not hard to find that they shared some common literary style as living a simple life,be natural, pure and solitude.
