Chinese traditional mural is one of the oldest artistic forms. With the development of history, this art tendency successfully renews and transforms Chinese traditional concept of history and culture, which is positive and meaningful. Excellent murals are centralized reflection of people’s ideas, civilization, art and technology of a nation in a certain age. Chinese mural has a long history. The concept of “Unity of Man and Nature” refers to the combination of man and nature, which is also the unity of subjective self and the objective self. Since ancient times, “Unity of Man and Nature” is Chinese people’s ultimate views on universe. While the long development and evolution of Chinese mural, “Unity of Man and Nature” is the integration of the painter’s subjective spirit and the objective nature’s representation, and is the essential characteristics of Chinese murals. Under its impact,Chinese traditional mural takes the faith of creating a harmonious beauty by highly integrating the subjective and the objective, which profoundly reflects the painters’ comprehension of real life and expresses their real experience of emotion, so that is the carrier of painters’ subjective spirit and the highly permeable crystallization of “Unity of Man and Nature”. This paper presents the penetration and heritage of “Unity of Man and Nature” in traditional Chinese murals from the perspectives of composition, shape, color,creation and some other aspects. It illustrates the quintessence of “Integration of Matter and Me,Unity of Man and Nature” through the study of the creation of mural “Cangjie invents Chinese character”. It explores the impact of “Unity of Man and Nature” on Chinese murals, in order to improve its application and development in modern mural,seek some more innovative methods and means for the developing Chinese mural creation, and create more art treasures full of national and modern spirits.
