Fukuzawa Yukichi as the most influential Japanese thinkers in modern society promotedthe Western civilization and inspired people, paved the way towards the modernization inthought, had won the reputation of Oriental Voltaire. At the same time, he also served as ainstigator and advocate for the Japanese government to launch the war, his theory of narrowcivilization and national view of war complied with the ambition of Japanese foreignexpansion, seeking ideological and theoretical basis and asylum for japanese government tolaunch the war,in order to deceive and confuse the Japanese people, realize the Japanesemilitarists’ ultimate goal of grabing the benefits of war by foreign war.On the basis ofconfirming that Fukuzawa Yukichi made great contribution to Japanese modern civilizationas the Japanese and world-renowned modern thinker and educator, this topic approaches thesubject only from the basic connotation of Fukuzawa Yukichi’s narrow civilization andnational view of war,the background, the basis and the reason for the rationality, the innercontact of the narrow civilization and national view of war as well as direct product of the roleof the the Sino-Japanese War.Thus it shows that Fukuzawa Yukichi is the designer and guideof the Japanese Modernization, his narrow civilization and national view of war makesnegative effects on the Sino-Japanese War in guiding the Meiji government to launch war inorder to meet the needs of their national independence and developping desires modern byplundering of Modern China. Otherwise, our readers can also gain enlightenment from whichFukuzawa Yukichi’s theory is inherited and carried forward by the Japanese militarists, whichplayed a misleading and mobilizing role in Japanese government launching large-scale warsand World War II. As the typical representative of the Japanese bourgeois who hope eagerlythat Japan can take to the capitalist road, Fukuzawa Yukichi’s claim is the portrayal of thelimitations of this class, clearly implies the inner expansion of capitalism and colonialcharacteristics. Today Fukuzawa Yukichi personal and ideological praise should not be sohigh from people, we should not forget the injuries to our country and people brought by histhought and behavior and even the unharmonious influences in sino-japanese relationsnowadays.
