| In an era with constant changes in scientific technology as well as inexhaustible emergence of entertainment media,"Taiwanese opera", as a kind of opera with much local cultural characteristics, toughly survive. As regards the costumes of such opera, their compatibility is one of the intrinsic factor influencing the artistic development of the opera. However, people still don’t pay more attention to the aesthetic culture of these costumes. Therefore, this paper attempts to further explore the origin of the "compatible" phenomenon and summarizes the historical experience in light of historical development of Taiwanese opera so as to make such costumes be convenient for use and innovation, which shall be a crucial part for the survival and development of current Taiwanese opera.Based on the time and space of the development and evolution of the costumes of this opera, this paper comprehensively collates their hundred years of evolutionary course. In combination with field studies, literatures of Taiwanese opera and collected pictures, this paper regularly demonstrates the appearance of these opera roles’ costumes by breaking previous exposition mode by which the makeup was interweaved in historical materials of Taiwanese operas. It can be found that no matter the costumes go through evolutionary course or remains the same as current, the portable referential means still can’t be castled off. Furthermore, comprehensive reflection and exploration are made upon such "compatibility". Personally speaking, the "compatible" feature of the costumes is closely related to local culture and historical background. Meanwhile, this paper proposes that the involvement of "local culture" is an inevitable trend of costume design of Taiwanese costumes. Besides, the research on the historical course of costumes, their design and origin aims to find practical value for present costume design of Taiwanese costumes, in hope of providing certain references for the innovative design of these costumes. |
