In2005, ancient myths from myriad cultures are reimagined and rewritten by contemporary authors. The project was conceived by Scottish publisher Canongate Books. The works, Su Tong’s Binu and The Great Wall, The Myth of Meng, Ye Zhaoyan’s Hou Yi, The Myth of HouYi And ChangE, Li Rui’s Human,The Myth of Lady White Snake, A Lai’s King Gesar, trying to make the reader accept rigid generated lack of thinking on the historical, social, and survival of the state by rewriting myths and legends, guide readers to understand the history and thinking survival situation. Meanwhile, we try to pay tribute to the literary classics, and re-interpretation."Rewrite" behavior, a relatively concentrated by contemporary writers, is a very typical rewrite the object of study. This paper, based on the four works, look rewriting myths motivation, exploring the overridden methods, and re-thinking the contemporary significance of the myth.Rewriting the myth was possible, because of the myth has an open structure. And rewriting is a literary tradition, not only in Western Literature but also in Chinese literature. Facing the current social environment and cultural context changing, the door to rewrite the myth is already open, which is affected by "nostalgia" and readers’looking forward. After a long spread and evolution, the myth gradually formed a relatively stable version. The story includes the highly symbolic, symbolic characters, rich storylines and a spiritual connotation. In terms of the rewriting of characters, the writer attempts to restore the nature of human in myths and legends, mining figures behind the complex, contradictory, changing character also. By rewriting the narrative, the myths and legends can be divorced from history, line-style story. The writer gets contemplation to present a broader narrative space in the narrative through historical time and space, in the hustle and bustle of narrative voice. By rewriting the spiritual connotation of myths and legends, the new myth presents the divinity loss characteristics of the times with the plight of the "hero", exposing the fallen reality of the plight of the troubled world of indifference, depict individual spiritual way out of love and self-pursuit.Rewriting is the way to rebirth of the myth. It is also diversified interpretation of the annotation of the myth. As a means of literature, rewriting constitutes the history of literary narrative with creation.
