In30s and40s, China was facing both internal and external social realities, a specialgroup—the intellectual women in enemy-occupied area emerged in this new old changeperiod. As most of the intellectual women who were born and raised in the decline of bigextended families,would face more complicated contradictions and pressures, so comparedwith other intellectual women there are many different personality characteristics showing ontheir bodies. Mei Niang wrote the unique mentality of intellectual women in theenemy-occupied area by using her personal experience and feminism perspective, which alsoprovided a new and distinctive character for the modern novel. Seeing from the point of thesocial environment, intellectual women had to face the contradiction between social unrestand the needs of seeking survival and development. But the social environment not onlyprovided them with a living space, but also hindered their thoughts. Seeing from the point ofthe objective environment, it’s much easier to research on the development of intellectualwomen’s thoughts. Furthermore,intellectual women with the contradiction between the“abandoned” and “accepted”. Impacted by the May4Cultural, intellectual women were eagerto break the bound and want to seek the individual value of the existence. But they could notget rid of the traditional social reality or the influences of their families. This contradictionmade the intellectual women have to face the confusion of the gender, the marriage and theoccupation. The intellectual women wanted to rebel against the tradition and pursuitpersonalized development though elopement、 premarital sex、 cursing patriarchal andpatriarchal society, etc. The intellectual women in Mei Niang’s novels realized,they couldobtain final success of women’s liberation by relying on the powerful nation、the women’salliance and the power of another’s love.
