The Study Of Poetry In Romance Novels Of Wei Jin Southern And Northern Dynasties

Romance novels in Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties are wonderful work, scholars have in-depth study about it. But scholars have not yet pay sufficient attention to the poetry inserted in the novel. These poems as "gifts" in the form (and most woman presented to man) exists in the novel, and considerable portion is songs. Therefore, in accordance with whether it is songs, these poems can be divided into Zengshi and Zengge.This literary issues with religious beliefs, the folk music culture together, and strive for make reasonable and profound explanation to the phenomenon of Zengshi and Zengge. The whole thesis are constituted by the introduction, four chapters and conclusion.The preface describes the origin and development of the inserted poetry into novel, and gives an introduction about the current research and the value of the research. Pointed out the research about Zengshi and Zengge in romance novels still is weak link.Chapter I makes a brief introduction of the romance novel in Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties,including the poetry of the novel content and quantity.Chapter II gives an account of the birth of Zengshi in romance novels, mainly to investigate the impact of Taoism on the Zengshi. Zengshi with Taoism factor, demonstrating bright and free lifestyle of immortals and people’s wishes of pursuing longevity and immortality. Obviously the author of the novel (Taoists or scholars influenced of Taoism) in order to better promote the Taoist preaching, so some poems of Wuyan were inserted into the novelChapter III discusses about the production of Zengge in romance novels, especially from the perspective of music in southern dynasty. Whether in the form (short, mostly five-character in four sentences)or the content (mainly songs about love), Zengge is actually the Yuefu of Southern dynasty. Zengge from one side to show that the changes of the Yuefu culture from the civil to the high society in southern dynasty.Chapter IV the value of Zengshi and Zengge in romance novels, mainly arguing the value in the history of poetry and novel. First, Zengshi of fairy poems and metaphysical poetry, as well as presented folk Yuefu and literary Yuefu, most of which are relevant to love. On one hand, they have unique features compared with other similar poetry, on the other hand, they supply supplementation for us to study these areas of poetry. Secondly, the model of romance novels inserted with poetry, having certain value on the history of the novel. Not only improving rough outline of the novel in Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties, but also enhancing the status of fiction in the literary mind, meanwhile having an impact on the later development of the novel.The conclusion summarize the whole thesis, and further clarifying the significance and value of the topic.
