As a famous writer and editor in modern Chinese literary history, Jin Yi not onlyedited a variety of publications, but also created much popular literature. DuringAnti-Japanese War, Jin Yi engaged in teaching and editing, meanwhile, he publishedsome novels about Anti-Japanese War, which left an indelible footprint in literaryhistory. However, during quite a long time, Jin Yi’s Anti-Japanese War novels were notpaid much attention on by researchers and almost became a forgotten corner in literaturehistory. Under such situation, the study on Jin Yi’s novels was far less comprehensiveand thorough. This article, attempting to push aside the dense fog of history, endeavorsto make a more comprehensive analysis and discussion on Jin Yi’s Anti-Japanese Warnovels, so as to bring back their original art glory.Jin Yi’s growth background plays a very important role in effecting the thinkingtendency of his novels, and his exile experience from the occupied area to the rear areaduring the Anti-Japanese War deepened his understanding to literature and life, whichprovided rich materials for his novels, and cause his turn-making in literature. About allthe problems such as exile and nostalgia in the occupied area, home and country,salvation and enlightenment, young intellectuals’ wandering journey, war and humanityin the rear area, existence and suffering, the ideal and reality, Jin Yi described public’sliving conditions of different regions, which reflects different themes in his novels aboutthe war. His novels, both from the description of life in wartime and characterization,and from the use of narrative skills, reflects writer’s distinctive literary characteristic.Basing on humanitarianism, he runs personal memories and feelings of compassionthrough his novels, and shows a panoramic picture of public life during war time, andexpresses the same patriotic feeling and national consciousness among different regions.His novels have made a positive efforts and exploration for the development ofanti-Japanese literature and have significant value and status in literary history.
