English as an international lingua franca continues its increasing worldwide spread in the late20th century, which breaks the integration pattern of British English as the center and generates a lot of varieties of English with their own special geo-political, economic and national identity in different parts of the world. China English is a new English variety born in Chinese socio-cultural and linguistic background. Researchers at home and abroad have studied China English from various aspects in the past30years. However, there are still few studies on China English in teaching and learning.This thesis aims at exploring a new teaching method that integrates China English into English teaching to make up for the deficiency of Chinese culture in current English teaching based on the previous teaching pattern—the strip story proposed by Robert E. Gibson. So this paper will explore this new teaching pattern, surrounding these questions:(1) What is the current situation of college students’ability to express Chinese culture in English?(2) What are students’attitudes towards China English and the culture teaching in English teaching before the new teaching pattern is introduced?(3) Is this new teaching pattern useful to improve students’basic abilities and the ability to express Chinese culture, and what are their attitudes towards this teaching pattern and China English?This thesis explores the above three questions by investigating students in Shaanxi Normal University and carrying out the class activities for one month in their English classes. The results are obtained through quantitative analyses and the records of related questions during the research process. According to the results, it can be drawn that students’ability to express Chinese culture in English is still weak; students think the culture teaching in English teaching can not meet their needs to express typical Chinese cultures and the comprehension is superficial; but it is acceptable among students because the new teaching pattern that integrates China English arouses students’interest in English. Students believe that the teaching pattern helps them improve their basic skills and their competence of expressing Chinese cultures in English and make up for the deficiency of native culture teaching in English teaching. Hence, this new teaching pattern could be further applied in English teaching.
