How to coordinate the protection and development of ancient towns and villages is an eternal topic in academia.Based on the research of predecessor, and the field investigations of the ancient villages and towns of lijiang river basin, author concluded the status quo and the features of the ancient villages and towns about the geographical distribution, restore of resource situation and development environment. And then, from the angle of institution, economic system and culture system, this paper analyzed the problem of uncoordinated in the process of the protection and development of ancient towns and villages, and puts forward some targeted strategies:Coordination strategy of institution:①Through the coherence between national institution systems and local institution systems, the institution learning between different areas, and the coordination of institution between different Managements, to achieving horizontal and vertical coordination between the formal system.②Respect the informal institutional systems, lead and accelerate the change of informal institutional, give full play to the complementary functions of informal institutional, to achieving the coordination of formal and informal institutional system.③Through the establishment of a unified management department, a transparent supervision system, a timely and effective information feedback system, to achieve the coordination of institutions operational mechanism. Through the coordination between these three elements of institution systems, to rationalize and standardize the management of ancient villages and towns, promote the work of protection and development in an orderly way.Coordination strategy of economy:①Create a sound investment environment by increasing the investment for infrastructure construction. To attract the commerce and investment by provide favorable policy and measure.
