The rise of the movement for abrogating unequal treaties in the1920s is the result of multiple factors in the international and domestic. At the international level, mainly by the stimulation of the failure of Bei yang government in Paris Peace Conference and the Soviet Union to take the initiative to abandon the treaty privileges in China; in the domestic, thanks to actively promotion from the KMT and the CP. The direct target of the movement for abrogating unequal treaties is to abrogate all unequal treaties which are imposed on China by the imperialist countries to seek national independence and liberation. In such a lofty goal, the movement gets a broad participation of people from all walks of life, become a participation of the whole anti-imperialist patriotic movement. In this massive nationalist movement, with their blazing patriotism and Thriving momentum, the majority of young students have played an irreplaceable role. They organized a variety of groups and formed organized force through a variety of ways to participate in struggles for abrogating unequal treaties, greatly promoted the development of the movement, promoting the upsurge of nationalist thought, highlighting the strength of the civil diplomacy. Due to the operation of political parties, the young students also embrace different views on abrogating the unequal treaties, which led to internal strife.The movement for abrogating unequal treaties had an impact on the student movement. It makes anti-imperialist goals of the student movement more explicit, promotes the development of student organizations, and deepens understanding of the young students about nationalism, so that the student movement is upgraded to a new level.
