Antonin DvoraK was a musician representing Czech folk music traditions in the19th century as well as a major one in the Romantic Era. Of all his11operas, the brilliant work Rusalka, based on an ancient tale, plays a significant role in the world’s opera history as a representative Czech folk opera, featuring strong ethnic flavor.This article mainly discusses The image-shaping of Rusalka in the Opera Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak. An investigation into the great composer’s opera composing and the artistic features of his operas, along with a detailed analysis of the character’s arias help to provide some macro understanding of the whole opera. The article is divided into three chapters, with Chapter1discussing Dvorak and the characteristics of opera composing in his period; Chapter2investigating the textual and music composition characteristics of the opera Rusalka, Chapter3giving an idea of how the character of "Rusalka" is shaped through an analysis of the unique image, especially the music image of the character.
