Western absurd theatre is the main theatre that appeared after world war Ⅱ, As thesocial unrest caused by the two world wars and the acme of worship of the thing after postwarwestern world, the humane spirit and the Christian faith of the western tradition face acomplete collapse and alienation. The sensitive absurd playwrights feel that human have beenenslaved by the absurd world, and human oneself is also isolated from each other, even viewothers as hell. They suspect the world, deny all the things, question the whole world andhuman existence and finally owe all down to absurdity. In the play, they raised their resistanceflags, using the drama features of the opposite of the drama, the plot, the language, thecharacter to show their objection to the realistic drama since the nineteenth century, requiringreevaluating western europion traditional drama. The representative playwright of the absurdtheatre is Samuel Beckett、Eugene Ionesco、Arthur Adamov、Jean Genet、Harold Pinter andAlbee Edward, they think about the survival of people under the absurd world once again.Western absurd theatre plays an important role in the exploration of the drama in Chineseeighty’s and this era cannot be neglected in the history of Chinese drama. During the ten yearsof the cultural revolution, eight model operas reached the peak in the aspect of revolutionaryromansticism. The shortage of the political belief faced the overwhelming western modernthoughts since the reform and open up. Considering the situation, the Chinese playwright tryto create a series drama of modern spirit from the angle of the western modern, referring tothe modern drama technique. They hope to make a new exploration of Chinese traditionalculture through the change of human nature, person’s survival, the destiny of man.In the process of the localization since the eighty’s, Chinese playwrights have beenlearned and absorbed many ways that western fantastic playwrights used. particularly, theyhave made a hard try to reintergration all these in their own creations. The most importantthing is that it worth to make a research to find its real value. This thesis is aimed to comparethe Similarities and differences between the Chinese eighty’s exploratory drama and westernfantastic drama via the way of impact study. I will try to find the change that Chineseplaywrights have been absorbed and analyse the cause of the localization from the perspective of different spirit between Chinese and western culture. At the mean time, the trueis that Chinese playwrights have neglected things like Social absurdities, life is nothing etc.The exploration of the reason will provide a chance to me to think about the different ways ofsurvival in the similar social environment led by different ultimate values between Chineseand western. I hope that this article could lead people to think about the blundering societysince the ninety’s until now and find that what drama and how could we express the value ofthe human nature and the meaning of life of the times.
