Being one of the most influential schools in western modern literature, theAbsurd Theatre reflects the consciousness of western people and the westernworld after the War. In 1950's, the Absurd Literature has been developed to itsthird phase, where "the absurd" doesn't have to be released but only need to bepresented. Taking the analysis of the absurd consciousness as the theme, "the absurd"in the heart and the spiritual world is stipulated as the essence of the absurdconsciousness in this paper. That is to say, "the absurd" presented in the absurdtheatre is the one of which people was aware and felt. The Absurd Theatre emerged in 1950's in France and became fashionable inEuropean and American countries in the 1960's. From the appearance of the firstabsurd play to "Wait for Godot", the Absurd Theatre went through these years,when the ambiguousness and the whereabouts of human existence was found outand on these factors, great importance was attached. Therefore, the absurdconsciousness became the dominate consciousness in the western society and wasfully revealed through the absurd theatre. So the research in the absurdconsciousness shall for sure lead us to further understand the western world froma perspective of culture.
