The Renaissance which was started in the cities of Italy at the end of13thcentury is undoubtedly one of the most important events in the European history,lasting almost300years and then extending to the west European countries. Muralpainting had played an important role in the Italian Renaissance in which period themajor representative paintings belonged to the category of mural. It was taken forgranted that the achievements of paintings in the Italian Renaissance focus on mural.The achievements did not only reflected in the great artistic innovation but alsoreflected in its tremendous improving effect on the study about the public attribution ofmural painting.Research of the public attribution of mural painting in Italian Renaissance periodpays attention to the specific influence and effect under certain historical condition. Wecannot judge it in the framework of public belief nowadays, neither can we judge andevaluate the public attribution in that period by the public awareness and value inmodern society rashly. The study on the effect and value of mural in the social life andpublic circumstance at that time should be on the basis of the comprehensive analysisof the related historical materials and in the process of specific examination in differentlevels of social culture. Moreover, we may take a relatively comprehensive judgmenton the publicattribution of mural.The development of modern city in early time and the formation of the hierarchyof citizen had provided the necessary support and social basis on the public attributionof mural. The ideological trend of humanism had provided profound ideologicalconnotation and strong vitality in the mural of that time. Yet the public attribution ofmural had provided a good condition on the circulation of these ideologies.As a common belief at that time, religion had penetrated in various levels ofsocial life. The discussion of the public attribution of mural at that time cannot beisolated from the factor of religion.As the carrier of mural, building is one of the most important factors in theexamination of its public attribution. Moreover, as the subject of public attribution,human beings are a very important factor as well. They all make up the basis of thestudy on the public attribution of mural in Italian Renaissance.All in all, the exhibition of the public attribution of mural in Italian Renaissance is diversified. The examination of its public attribution in various levels has provided anoutline of the interaction of mural and social life at that time. Thus, people mayunderstand the relationship and positive significance between the public attribution ofart and society from deeper dimension.
