Juvenile Interpretation is a new concept rising in Shanghai, which can be concluded as a type of course-learning concentrating on interpreting skills, as well as other complementary courses like reading, translation and listening, with the target of middle school students. This thesis intends to explore a new interpreting learning style, teaching objects and methods, attempting to break or at least to doubt the sophisticated ideology that interpreting teaching only serves career training and interpreters are bound to be adults. It’s innovative to discuss the feasibility study of Juvenile Interpretation and the possibility of its prevalence.Communication is the key character of all the interpreting tasks based on the interpretation way of thinking. Juvenile Interpretation is also based on such principle, teens learn interpretation could improve their overall English ability. The investigation of the training market of Juvenile Interpretation displays the initial efforts and achievements by two training institutions on their training model and learning effect and positive implication between language competence and Juvenile Interpretation learning. Juvenile Interpretation, normally recruits students from12years old to17years old, with the comprehensive learning purpose to both pass the Shanghai Preliminary or Intermediate Certificate Interpretation Test and improve English in both oral and written ways. Shanghai Foreign Language School also takes the pioneering step to organize its own interpreting test to accelerate the combination of learning and application as well as to provide the self-assessment system for students.This dissertation offers a new angle toward interpretation and its training model, concentrating teens as the core learners and studying on their learning effect, model and social impact.
