In traditional Western music, music theory is mainly concentrated in the pitch structure (tonality, harmony, melody, etc.), musical structure (motives, themes, sections, etc.), as well as the pace. The terminology of "timbre" as a generalization orchestration, decorative treatment, is not considered core or purpose of music creation. Electronic music has changed such a situation. The first breakthrough came in the1940s, founded by Frenchman Pierre Schaefer music, a creative way of real environmental samples composed and breaking with the traditional pitch system. It had a profound impact on people’s general understanding of sound. With the rapid development of electronic synthesis technology in the next few years, composers can creat freely the sound that cannot be found in nature, and sound became the main body of musical works. This new manifestation brings new problems and challenges to the traditional music appreciation and analysis of electronic music. There is an urgent need for match a music theory to explore the deep structural features of the electronic music. This article will focus on the basic musical materials of electronic music to have a deep analysis of the basic characteristics and structural significance of the musical material in electronic music. I believe such a study is significant to the spread and rise of electronic music in the country.
