Report On Chinese Translation Of Mergers And Acquisitions

With the outbreak and influence of the financial crisis, people are becomingincreasingly interested in finance. This project is on English-Chinese Translationstrategy in finance, which is based on the translation practice of Mergers andAcquisitions written by J. Fred Weston and Samuel C. Weaver. The major approachesadopted in this project are Case study, investigation and Contrastive Analysis. Bytranslating the first3chapters of the book, basic approaches to translate the financialvocabulary and sentence from English to Chinese are summarized. And characteristicsof vocabulary and sentence structure in financial English, such as the wide existenceof financial terminology and complexity of the sentence structures, are observed andstated in this thesis. Besides, the comparison and contrast of translation between thisproject and others will be made, illustrating the advantages and disadvantages oftranslation work on this project. This paper aims to help Chinese students andtranslators better understand and study translation of financial English.
