The Living Tradition

In the evolution history of literature in the new stage, there is the restriction andinfluence of the traditional culture besides the moving of ideological and culturalclues in the modernity. They are mutual agitating and mutual counteracting. Thisthesis focuses on the traditional factors and influence in the new period novels, andtries to give an overview and comprehensive analysis and interpretation about theproblem.First of all, to investigates the mutual surge and alternating derivation betweenthe traditional and anti-traditional in the historical context. It is shown as the "reformthe culture of life" in the "Cultural Revolution", and as the "culture hit" after theradical anti-tradition and the development of "Root-Seeking Literature". Then itdeepens and develops into the consciousness of "local trait" writing and "Chinesewriting ".Secondly, the thesis views the traditional resources and creation in the newperiod novels’ creation, such as to dredge the culture of Confucianism, Buddhism andTaoism that as the main veins of Chinese culture, and to multi-present the folk culture,region culture and special cultural, also appears as the return and reproduction ofmysterious oriental culture.Thirdly, from the two levels of the humanistic and the text, the thesis specificallyinvestigates the traditional cultural factors’ influence on the persuasive education ofthe writers’ literary spirit and cultural personality image shaping in the works, and isto “join the past with the present” in style and language levels, and attempts tocomplete the docking from the macroscopic phenomena to the creative practice andspecific text in this process.Finally, the thesis gives a summarization of some regularity phenomenon and arevealing of some important propositions: the error in the process of returning totradition, the creative transformation of traditional, as well as the replying with theworld literature. In short, an overall research on the existing way of traditionalelements in the new period novels and the influence of traditional elements on text ofthe new period novels and creative subject, and this is a never ending process ofhistory and the writing.
