The Zixi County is one country of East-central Jiangxi Province,which is one ofthe countries of Fuzhou municipality.Though it is along the border area betweenJiangxi and Fujian, its dialect isn’t be influenced by Fujian dialect and Zixi dialectbelongs to Fuguang part of Gan dialect.Zixi dialect is similar to Fuzhou dialect, butthere are still some differences between them.This thesis takes the phonetics of old and young people in Hecheng town of Zixias the main described object, and adopts the modern scientific methods, tries to give adetailed and comprehensive describing of the old and young phonetics of the Hechengdialect. There are20consonants,78vowels and7tones including the zero consonantin the Hecheng dialect.This thesis tries to give a detailed describing of the old andyoung phonetics of the Hecheng dialect through the synchronic comparison, and findsout the differences between the young and the old Hecheng dialect.Through thediachronic description the thesis describes that the different words between the newand the old Hecheng dialect compare with their pronunciations of Fuzhou dialect andMandarin, and tries to find out that the external factor related with language contactswhich lead to the sound changes in Hecheng dialect. Among the factors, the contactswith Fuzhou dialect is the most prominent one, while following Mandarin. The trendis that the dialect is developing towards Mandarin.The thesis is a achievement that I discover and study my first dialect, I record alot of the newest and plentiful phonetics’ materials.It will fill in the gaps of thephonetics’ research of Hecheng and provide the valuable materials for the phoneticdescription and research of Gan dialect.
