Tourists’ spatial behavior is one of the most important research fields of humangeography. Studies have focused on the tourists’ spatial behavior of scenic spots andurban destinations, but studies about event tourists’ spatial behavior are less.Tourists’spatial behavior of Shanghai World Expo and tourism spatial effect on Yangtze RiverDelta Region have been discussed. Utilizing SPSS statistical analysis,GIS spatialanalysis and social network analysis, it includes the following aspects specificly.Firstly, individual property characteristics of domestic tourists of Shanghai WorldExpo has been statisticsed descriptively by using SPSS,including demographiccharacteristics and travel statistical characteristics.Secondly, tourists’ motivation and decision-making behavior is the impactfactor,it is the premise and foundation of tourists’ spatial behavior, and reflect theinherent mechanism of tourists’ spatial behavior, therefore, it is necessary to analyzethe domestic tourists’ motivation and decision-making behavior of Shanghai WorldExpo. sightseeing and business/travel are the main motivations, followed by holiday/leisure and visiting friends and relatives. Tourist destination, context-aware,information acquisition, consumer preference and socio-economic factor influencedecision-making behavior.Thirdly,on the basis of Shanghai World Expo domestic tourists data obtained byquestionnare and gathering and organizing network travel, the paper analyzes thespatial structure and rule of the domestic tourist market of the Shanghai World Expo.Investigation and analysis revealed that domestic tourist markets are widelydistributed, except Tibet, it mainly concentrated in the densely populated andeconomically developed eastern region, especially in the Yangtze River Delta region. With the increasing of space distance from the tourists region to Shanghai, the numberof tourists decreased, the distance decay phenomenon is obvious, but is alsoaccompanied some volatility. Spatial use curve of tourist flows is the compound ofBoltzman type and basic type. Spatial distance, urban population scale and economiclevel are the main factors affecting the tourists distribution. Spatial distance of the peak tourists flow is at300km from Shanghai, when the spatial distance exceeds2000km,the attraction of Shanghai World Expo on tourists is weaker. The attractionradius of Shanghai World Expo is1400km.Fourthly,recreational activity space of Shanghai World Expo domestic tourists isanalyzed,it is found that the vast majority tourists traveled to Shanghai and theYangtze River Delta region. In view of tourism destinations, Shanghai Expo tourists’behavior has a clear destination point to the World Expo. Shanghai World Expo is themain destination selected by tourists, fewer tourists choose to go to other scenic spotsin Shanghai city and the other cities. The Oriental Pearl Tower, the Bund and NanjingRoad Pedestrian Street, City God Temple, and the Jinmao Tower are major scenicspots in Shanghai to World Expo tourists. The secondary destinations of ShanghaiWorld Expo tourists are located in Yangtze River Delta areas, and are conscentratedon Suzhou and Hangzhou cities, those tourists’ recreational activity space isdiscontinuous, which is attenuated outward concentrically as Suzhou and Hangzhoufor centers. This is mainly influenced by tourists’ travel distance, the distribution ofthe destinations, the attraction of the destinations and recommended tourist routesduring the Shanghai world Expo.Fifthly, tourists’ spatial behavior patterns and their factors are discussed. DirectRoute pattern is dominate while Partial Orbit pattern is minor spatial behavior patternsof World Expo tourists. Tourists’ spatial behavior is influenced by their age, degree ofeducation, occupation, monthly age, travel way and spatial distance, tourists’ gender, aswell as children that are carried or not, affects spatial behavior weakly. Tourists’ age, education level, and average monthly income have the negative correlation with thetourists’ proportion who holds Direct Route patterns, and the positive correlation withtourists’ ratio who holds Partial Orbit pattern, Full Orbit pattern and Fly pattern.Government officials, professionals and business people, staffs, students mainly holdFull Orbit pattern, Fly pattern, Direct Route pattern, Partial Orbit pattern respectively.Tourists organized by travel agencies mainly hold Full Orbit pattern, while tourists notorganized by travel agencies mainly hold Partial Orbit pattern and Fly pattern. Withthe increase in spatial distance from Shanghai, the ratio of tourists who hold DirectRoute pattern reduces, but the ratio of tourists who hold Partial Orbit pattern, FullOrbit pattern and Fly pattern rises gradually, tourists within500km,500~1000km,1000km outside away from Shanghai separately holds Direct Route and Partial Orbitpattern, Full Orbit pattern,Fly pattern. At last,on the basis of the analysis of the tourists’ spatial behavior, according tothe tourists flow space diffusion theory and using social network analysis methods tobuild the Shanghai World Expo tourism flow network on the. Taking16cities inYangtze River Delta region as tourist nodes, the tourists space effect of tourists spatialbehavior on16cities is studied in the view of tourists flow during the World Expo.During the World Expo, the link between16cities is close, the overall density of thetourists flow network is0.4377, the network diameter is4. According to the centralindicators, the tourists space effect of the tourists’ spatial behavior on Hangzhou andSuzhou is the largest, which are the primary and the core node cities in the YangtzeRiver Delta region, their function of clustering, diffusing and transfering the touristsflow is the most powerful.Nanjing,Wuxi,Jiaxing are the sub-core node cities in theYangtze River Delta region, their function of clustering, diffusing and transfering thetourists flow is weak, the tourism space effect of the tourists’ spatial behavior on themis lower. Changzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang are the secondaryedge node cities in the the Yangtze River Delta, the tourists space effect of the WorldExpo tourists’ spatial behaivior is weaker. Shanghai World Expo tourists rarely setfoot in other cities, which belongs to the edge node cities in the Yangtze River Deltaregion.Huzhou belongs to isolated city, with no tourists influxing.
