The Roles Of Spatial Perspective Taking During Spatial Attention Allocation

Although the existence of Attentional SNARC is still controversial,it is undeniable that there is a conceptual relationship between space and quantity,that is,small number is related to left space,large number is related to right space.Some researchers try to find out whether the relationship between "left" and "right" sides of space and digital size can occur in other reference systems from the point of view of spatial reference system.It is found that there is a dynamic reference system for SNARC effect.However,no research has been done on the reference system of Attentional SNARC.Visual Spatial Perspective Taking is an individual's ability to understand what others are looking at and what they see.It involves looking at objects from the perspective of other people's space and can be further distinguished as the 1st person perspective-taking(1PP),or egocentric;The third person view is 3rd person perspective-taking(3PP).or allocentric.Therefore,this study uses a new paradigm to prove the existence of the Attentional SNARC effect and to explore whether the effect is influenced by the spatial perspective of others.In Study 1,we used an oral report to report the color of the target stimulus(a side ball on the screen)according to the number of parity.In experiment 1,the stimulus images contained only numerical and bilateral spheres,and a significant Attentional SNARC effect was found.Experiment 2 stimulates images containing numbers,flanks and an image of a girl facing or back to the screen.The task requirement of experiment 2 is the same as that of experiment I,and a significant Attentional SNARC effect is also found,and this effect is not affected by the angle of task-independent characters.The stimulatory pictures of experiment 3 were the same as those of experiment 2,but the subjects were asked to judge the left and right from the perspective of the characters.The results showed that the Attentional SNARC effect could not be found.In the second study,we used the horizontal keystroke response,and asked the subjects to judge the color of the target stimulus according to the number of parity,red press F key,green press J key.In experiment 4,the stimulus picture was the same as that in experiment 1,and the task requirement was similar to that in experiment 1.The Att-SNARC effect was found.In experiment 5,the stimulus picture was the same as that in experiment 2,and the task requirement was similar to that in experiment 2.But the Att-SNARC effect disappeared.Summarizing the above five experiments,we use a new paradigm to find the Attentional SNARC effect under the condition of oral report and discuss the influence of other reference system on the effect.The experimental results support the assumption that the Attentional SNARC effect is not affected by the automatically activated reference system under the condition of oral report,but there is no Attentional SNARC effect under 3PP.Under the condition of horizontal keystroke response,there exists Attentional SNARC effect,but this effect is affected by task-independent reference system.
