Technology and art in handicraft industry time has tended to a perfect fusion,and craftsmen of this period created a colorful handmade works, which reflects thestrong manual charming. Subsequently, industrial revolution and modern designoriginated from the Western has gradually extending to all corners of the world, atthe same time, machine has conquered manual by mechanical efficiency, and themechanical aesthetics for mass production has been formed as the modernfunctionalism design developed. It became the aesthetic characteristics of that era,and also reflects the combination of technology and art in the period. Usinghigh-tech brings industry development and lucrative economic benefits, it alsoeffectively improves material life of people, but people were gradually surroundedby machinery products, the disadvantages of machinery have greatly weakened theindependence of people, machinery products virtually became the essential part ofour life. What’s more, strong technology and market intervened in the cultural fields,today there has been a significant trend of aesthetic generalization, life everywhereaesthetic, and the aesthetic taste has undergone great changes. People want morenatural things. Due to the dependency of products, it should has reasonable functionbased on mathematical logic of function and technology aesthetics, and it shouldalso has aesthetic factors based on perceptual experience of pleasure and aestheticliberation of consoling the soul. They both are the essential properties for industrialproducts. To a certain extent, but both are moving in the respective direction. Theorientation of contemporary household ceramics design is combining those factorsorganically once again to realize the integration of technology and art. This articleresearches on the combination of technology and art of the modern householdceramics from the perspective of the combination of the machinery and technologyaesthetic that represented the practical function and manual charming that wascharacterized by human freedom.Machinery producing replaced manual working to a great extent, and the hand-made ceramics is gradually enriched to areas such as modern ceramic art, inthese contexts, this article summarizes the machine aesthetic and manual charmingof their respective advantages and disadvantages in the way of vertical linkages andhorizontal comparison, in which the advantages and disadvantages have clearcomplementarities. These complementarities have formed the new definitions andnew contents of the contemporary household ceramics design.And the paper analysis the good household ceramic design of the domestic andforeign in search of the point of correspondence and specific forms of the union ofmechanical aesthetic and hand-made charm. It also researches the decorativeprinciples and aesthetic rules behind functions to further explore basic conditionsand the cause of combination. My own design practice was used as illustration. Atlast, the paper makes a conclusion that the combining the both are the designorientation of developing the strong points and avoiding the weak ones to reach theidentity of object and soul.
