Junior high school Chinese Language textbooks are the third set of ChineseLanguage textbooks published by the Director of Malaysia Independent ChineseSchool Federation. They were published on the basis of summarizing up ChineseLanguage textbook teaching experimental results, as well as fulfilling the purpose of“Malaysian Chinese Independent Junior High School Chinese Language Syllabus”which amended in year2000. The replacements were completed in year2004-2006,with a total of six textbooks in three years, which are then used by every junior highschool student in Chinese Independent High School in Malaysia. Chinese languageis the basic tool and first teaching language in Chinese Independent High School.In this paper, analysis and evaluation were done onto the six junior high schoolChinese Language textbooks and CDs. Documentary research, questionnaire, andintegrated inductive way of thinking were used as research methods to analyze theseteaching materials in a comprehensive way, in order to obtain the strengths and partsshall be improved in these materials, and make them a reference in reforming theChinese Language textbooks in future.This paper is divided into seven chapters. Chapter one is the Introduction.Chapter two is to understand the textbook orientation and establishing textbookevaluation dimensions by referring to the evaluation result of China, Europe andAmerican textbooks, as the indicators of textbook analysis and overall assessment.Chapter three will explore the textbook layout structure and the standard of edition.Chapter four analyzes the contents of the materials, which included the body systems,knowledge of languages and applications, practical systems and readers system.Chapter five focuses on selected articles system, analysis on the selected article titlesand compares the selected articles in first and third set of junior high school ChineseLanguage textbooks. Chapter six is the analysis and survey results of questionnaires.The last chapter will make a comprehensive evaluation on the materials, together withthe proposals for next reformation.From the analysis, believe that the training points of these teaching materials areboth scientific and practical, and the language knowledge reflects the knowledgesystems of Chinese Language. The appropriateness of exercises needs to beexplored, and the ability of students collecting and processing information are notobvious. The readers system is affective in promoting the unity of “Teaching” and “Learning”, but lack of interesting issues. The selected articles reflect the traditionalvalues, but the contemporary of life was not obvious. In the last chapter, somesuggestions available on the reformation of the textbooks, the materials should takeinto account the multi-cultural topics, and increase the level of appropriates to times,as well as the interesting, dynamic and flexible contents. The materials shallimprove the incomplete knowledge points, the editing skills, and consider more on thecognitive level of students on exercises.
