Metaphor is a cognitive phenomenon, and metaphor is the basis of humancognition and thinking. In this paper, cognitive linguistics, metaphor theory as aframework, we explore the unique nature and the comparative study of cognitivemetaphor in foreign language. This paper is mainly divided into three parts:The first part, we had defined the phrase in the perspective of the diet food culture,and make the theoretical study of metaphor a brief overview, and make a detailedclassification from the source domain of the English diet’s idiom.The second part, from the psychological space of the English idiom’s emotionalmetaphor, three kinds of image schema spatial metaphor was compared. Secondly, weanalyzed three small part of emotion metaphor of cognition, the material of theemotional experience of mapping systems, marine’s cultural differences.Again,metaphor of human cognition are discussed what is divided intothree small part,such as the human characters, human "food meaning" verb class, the body organs.Finally, from a structural metaphor and physical metaphor concept in thecommunicative differences do the research.The third part, mainly for the teaching of English idioms diet points, we raisedmainly three practical teaching strategies the creation of context, compared,communication, each strategy were made a few small strategy.Finally,this research is summarized, that the main point of this article andweaknesses, and the need for further research.
