With the introduction of foreign literature after the "CulturalRevolution", their influence on Chinese literature has gradually deepened,among which Kafka is with no doubt the most outstanding one. Barely noforeign writers can ranked as high as Kafka, in the perspective ofpopularity, research results, and the breadth and depth of influence onChinese writers.Franz Kafka holds an irreplaceable play in the history of worldliterature. His works, despite very few throughout his lifetime, has aprofound impact on literature of several generations, and their influence iseven beyond the scope of literature.Kafka has influenced many Chinese writers, including Zong Pu, YuHua, Can Xue, etc.. It is even asserted that China’s new era novels all havesomething to do with Kafka, when it comes to metamorphosis, absurdnessand anti-convention.This paper begin with the study of Kafka himself and his work,focusing on Kafka’s personal life and formation of his world view anddeath concept, and also on some representative Chinese writers like ZongPu and Yu Hua, whose works are deeply influenced by Kafka. Throughcomparative analysis, we’ll have a more comprehensive understanding ofKafka and his impact on Chinese modern literature. This paper picks outtwo famous writers, rather than miscellaneous ones, so that we can give amore in-depth and constructive way of looking into the matter.
