Herry David Thoreau is the western environmental movement pioneer. Earlyin the1840s.he had the profound understanding in the relations between life andnatural,which can be found from his “meticulous depiction of the beautifulwilderness, consciousness of the damaged homeland and the survival crisis, andreflection on the modern concept life and human survival situation”(Wu GuoShengsaid).It is important that his environmental thoughts contained in an ecologicalview of subsistence, which is the western ecological movement and ecological theoryhas not clearly put forward so far. In fact, Thoreau’s ecological view ofsubsistence intended to Remind people to put on their attention turned to concernfor nature, and reflection of the relationship between human survival and the naturalecological. Only know this relationship with each other, to understand the truemeaning of human existence.This article stands from the times of body background and the livingenvironment which Thoreau experienced, base on his theory by analyzing theinfluence of the thinking at that time, summarizes its own unique life experience’spoint of view, This paper focuses on the discussion of Thoreau’s ecological survivalconcept basic content, including its formation condition, theoretical subject,theoretical characteristics, value and its dilemma and so on.
