Frederick Chopin and Francis Liszt are two outstanding pianists in their age. AsEurope’s greatest Romantic pianists during nineteenth-century, their achievement inpiano is significant. From a practical point of view, although both Chopin and Lisztare famous pianists, their talents in piano are much different. It is commonly thoughtFrederick Chopin is a rare piano genius, his piano music shows strong emotion andextraordinary individuality. For Liszt, people are more willing to admit that he was askilled piano prince. His superb virtuoso makes people have prejudices more or less.But with the time goes on, the works of Liszt’s brilliant gradually revealed and moreand more people to pay attention to his works. Based on this, it is necessary to analyzeBallade works on different styles by using Chopin Ballade works and provide somereference by comparing Lester and Chopin’s works.Starting from the Ballade and the origin of the narrative poem, this thesisanalyzes the origin of Piano Ballade. For having a clear understanding for their worksand learning from their creative experience, the author also analyze the creationbackground of Chopin and Liszt second Ballade. On the base of careful analysis ofChopin Ballade" F" and Lester’s" Ballade in B minor”, this thesis compares the twonarrative, dramatic and nationality of two works. In order to provide direction forfurther interpretation, clear understanding and obtain more help in perforce, the authorsummarizes the creative ideas of Chopin and Lester Ballade by comparing theirworks.
