The American psychologist Ainsworth, using Strange Situation Procedure,divided children attachment into four types: secure attachment, ambivalent attachment,avoidant attachment and disorganized attachment, the latter three are collectively calledinsecure attachment. Between2005and2010, the number of helpless orphan in Chinaincrease form712000to574000, with the growing number of helpless orphan, thedrawbacks of the traditional child welfare agencies are gradually emerging. Afterinvestigation, I found that the proportion of children with insecure attachment in welfarehomes is higher than children of normal families, and the traditional parenting methodsin welfare homes do not help children develop a secure attachment, these helpless orphanare more insecure and lacking a strong sense of trust than the normal children, whichleads to some problem with behaviors, a negative impact on daily living and learning.The social case work, as one of the classic work of social work, uses its uniqueperspective and professional operation involved in the helpless orphan of insecureattachment. Through targeted services, the author makes an effort to explore the methodto improve the insecure attachment helpless orphan’s attachment security. The paper isbased on the social case work done by the author in Hulunbeier children’s welfare home,taking the attachment theory as basis, using social case work method, concepts and skillsto analysis the intervention of the insecure attachment. According to the actual situation,analysis the different backgrounds and needs of each child individually, to help thehelpless orphan re-experience the security and trust, then get the ability toself-development and self-cure, and finally to improve the insecure attachment helplessorphan’s attachment security and promote the healthy growth of helpless orphan.
