Chewelry-Chinese Classical Patterns Study And Its Usage In Accessories Design

As China’s comprehensive national strength continues to strengthen, theChinese traditional culture has been loved by people around the world, andmore and more paid attention by global designers as well. A typical exampleis that Chinese Dragon and Phoenix Patterns have been the main theme ofOriental Style Designs. However, Chinese Classical Patterns are far beyond.Being China’s huge artistic heritage and cultural wealth, Chinese ClassicalPatterns have a rich content and deep inside, which contain a large potentialto be further explored in depth and breadth. Via studying the structure andcomposition of Chinese classical patterns, the author hopes to mine the inner cultural connotation and grab the essence to her accessories design, andprovide reference to the current domestic design community as well.In this paper, the author gets typical classical ones by screening Chinesetraditional patterns, analyzes their structures and forms, traces their culturalconnotations, and creates a series of accessories based on Chinese classicalpatterns via refining, exaggerating, and reconstructing.The paper covers the following contents:It is briefly expounded in the introduction that the working environmentand design concept of today’s local Chinese accessories trade, the author’scomprehension of Chinese esthetic and the truth of Chinese classical cultureand art, and the origin of writing this paper and its substance.In section one, the development and evolution of the ancient Chineseaccessory patterns is described, and the most representative patterns of eachhistorical stage is summarized.In section two, the CHEWELRY brand which is founded by the author isintroduced. The author’s philosophy in accessories design is well elaborated,which becomes the foundation and divergent point in this paper, includingdesign concept analysis, visual identification system display and brand’smedia promotion exhibition. In section three, a serious of comprehensive case study and design ispresented to fully express the author’s design concept and ideas, whichcontains the studying and analysis on structure and composition of Chineseclassical patterns, cultural connotations tracing, rendering annotating anddisplay.In conclusion, the value of Chinese classical patterns is well told, andtheir instruction to nowadays accessories design is introduced.
