Over the recent years, more and more overseas students come to china in order to master Chinese language as well as have a good understanding of Chinese culture and tradition. Under such a circumstance, an obvious phenomenon having arousing many researchers’attentions is that the number of students from Russian speaking countries is increasing rapidly with years.The reason why Russian students choose to study Chinese is that the vast majority of them with purpose of improving their linguistic ability to handle and use with skill hope to become the "angles" in cross-cultural communication between China and Russia. In that case, both the language teaching and the linguistic skill training are quite indispensable, and meanwhile cultivating the ability of language practical application is also very important. Cultivating the practical application of Chinese has a relation to various aspects. According to Russian students, the major issue is how to avoid or reduce their pragmatic failure in communication with Chinese native speakers. Language, the carrier of culture, symbolically represents the convention, custom as well as the communication rule of a nation. What’s more, all the above characteristics will also be manifested in the Second Language Acquisition. During the process of Chinese learning and expressing, those Russian students growing up in the context of Russian culture on the one hand, lack the basic knowledge of Chinese language custom; on the other hand, under the influence of their native culture and linguistic habits, they will always make various mistakes which affect their further master the second language. All of those pragmatic failures will be harmful to the Russian students to have a better understanding of Chinese, and surly hinder their proper use of it in cross-cultural communication.The thesis has a specific study on Chinese pragmatic failure of the Russian students. On the basis of the investigation of classification method, the paper will spare no efforts to explore the root of the problem, and try best to put forward some valuable suggestions on how to deal with such issues. The thesis mainly contains three parts:firstly, it makes a classification of the Chinese pragmatic failure of Russian students, which indicates two types, that is. linguistic pragmatic failure as well as communicative pragmatic failure. Secondly, through a specific analysis, it investigates the causes of the Chinese pragmatic failure of the Russian students. This paper will argue that the main reason of it results from the negative influence from the Russian culture and Russian language. Last but not least, by the virtue of both the teaching method of Chinese educators and the learning process of Russian students, it will discuss the strategy to reduce even eliminate the Russian students’pragmatic failure.
