In the late Qing Dynasty, there are a lot of medium—length and short novels describingone or more events. The writer groups these novels as relating to laws.The unique socialcondition and the state of laws of the late Qing Dynasty are described in the novels.In thisthesis,the writer will analyze some novels relating to laws to have a deep understanding ofthe society、the reformation of laws and practical condition of the late Qing Dynasty.This thesis is divided into three chapters.:In the first chapter, the writer will show the conception of the novels relating tolaws,analyze connections and distinctions between novels relating to laws and legal casenovels.And the writer will also discuss briefly the characteristics of feudalism and society oflate Qing Dynasty.In the second chapter,the writer will analyze the characteristics of these ideologicalcontent the later of Qing dynasty. It includes four aspects: the description of corrupt officer;the social disorder and the extremely bad environment of the prison of the later Qingdynasty’s; the weakening influence of these old thoughts under the impact of western newthoughts, and the emergence of a lot of new words, like Lawyer,Judge,Police,and so on; andthe description of social abuse and regretion in the later Qing dynasty.In the third chapter, the writer will analyze art features of the novels relating to laws.Firstly, the character and plot affected each other, and get through the characters manifestedby plots and plot are moved forward by characters;Secondly, some traits in narrating eventsin the novels relating to laws for example inserted poem were reduced,the method offlashback was widespread used, the length of a novel was relatively shortened and the plotwas concentrated.
