Interface Design Of Interactive TV For Urban Elderly

As we all know, elderly population continues to increase in China and the needs of thisgroup also change a lot with the city’s living standards improved. But to our surprise,productdesign for the aged is very scarce. As a entertainment center in family life of elderly, TVdesign ignored the elders’ cognitive and learning ability and always followed technology andyoung people in its UI design. So, to improve the elderly interactive TV experience, andenrich their spiritual life become this paper’s purposes by research on the physiology andcognitive characteristics of the elderly.First, this paper pointing out the deficiencies, necessity and feasibility in interface designof interactive TV in the aging trend society. Second, combined with interactive TV interfacedesign, this paper summed up the needs of urban elderly in interactive TV interface throughliterature review, questionnaires and family interviews. Finally, on the basis of a combinationof qualitative and quantitative and previous research conclusions, this paper summed up theprinciples of interactive TV interface design for the urban elderly, and then we do a designpractice under the guidance of these principles.As we know, interface design of interactive TV has just started in our daily life, and itsexperience is not perfect at all. At present, we should be concerned about the elderly becausethe growing aging population has become a serious problem in our lives. Therefore, toimprove the experience of interactive TV, not only to promote the development of interactiveTV itself, also has some social significance for our society. In fact,it is also the innovation ofthis paper.
