Recently, micro blog is very popular all around the world. There are more than500million global users. This thesis is concerned about this popular online product, through theinvestigation and analysis of today’s college students micro blog using motivation, tounderstand their attitude and behavior when using blog, and the mutual influence betweenmotives and behavior, and the attitude, and based on this point, to design campus micro blog.Test and improve the value of the empirical research conclusion through the design practice. This thesis based on the theory of Uses and Gratifications. This study conducts aresearch on the motivation and action of micro blog usage among college students throughUses and Gratifications Theory. Initially,9kinds of motives of micro blog users have beenestablished. They are easy to use, public expression, getting information, record, anonymousalternative, social interaction, Social ascension, recreation and fashion. And the user actionscan be divided into two dimensions of participation level and participate gradation. Further on,participation level can be divided into usage time and usage frequency. This study adopts empirical research method, questionnaire dominated, complementarywith depth interview method, the distribution of questionnaires online. After depth interviewto8college students of micro blog users and taking a questionnaire survey of128micro blogusers, Use SPSS to analyze117valid samples. We can conclude:1. The main motives of college students usage of micro blog are easy to use, publicexpression, getting information, record, anonymous alternative, social interaction, socialascension, diversion and fashion which records, getting information, recreation this threemotives most strongly. And, furthermore, different users vary greatly in the motives.2. Specific motives can be divided into four categories: social motive (social interactionand social ascension), record and expression motive (public expression, record and easy touse), emotional motive (anonymous alternative and recreation) and informationalmotive(share knowledge).3. Most of college students of micro blog users can accept the real-name system and willnot affect their will of use.4. Most of college students think college teachers having micro blog can narrow thedistance between teachers and students, but don’t like the teacher’s attention.5. When design campus micro blog product, following user-centered design method, firstdesign characters using qualitative research results and clear users group characteristics and then enhance product’s SoLoMo (social, position, mobile) features according to the campusenvironment. When conceptual design, the product will be divided into four plates:information, campus, individual and friends and design detailed content for each plate.According to design specification of IOS5.1to interaction design, first finish Lo-fi prototypequickly, and test usability, and then detailed design interface layout and interactive process, user testing. After many times Iterative design, the final campus micro blog product of ahigh-fidelity prototype is finished.
