| Based on the relevant essential theories of pragmatics, this paper intends toexplore the expression and understanding aspects of the humorous utterance, and listssome pragmatic strategies of humorous utterance through the study on the humorouslines of domestic sitcom Wu linǐ. In this paper, the author expounds the sitcomshould be not only rendered by scenes, but also resorted to the language forexpression. Language is one of the most important factors in comedies. Language hasstrong comedic function in the process of making audience laugh. A proper strategiccombination of words will make the dull features interesting and make people laugh.As it is a kind of comedy, the sitcom mainly shapes characters by language. In thesitcom of Wu linǐ, there are many components of language such as modern cyberlanguage, famous quotations of ancient and modern celebrities, AD languages,popular lyrics, and classical Chinese and English phrases. All of above make thissitcom humorous and interesting. This paper emphasizes on exploring and discussingthe pragmatic strategies of humorous utterance with some relevant pragmaticprinciples.The text is divided into four parts. The first part briefly introduces thepresent research status including the research questions, related literature review,research value and the data collection. The second part makes a briefly discussion ofthe linguistic features of humorous utterance in the sitcom Wu linǐand provides asupport for the following pragmatic strategies. The third part is the key component ofthis paper. Through some typical lines and dialogues in the sitcom, this partgeneralizes the pragmatic strategies of humorous utterance from the principles ofcooperation, politeness and relevance. The forth part introduces influential factors andconclusions. Through the discussion above, we will find the influential factorsresulting in misunderstanding the humor, and people will make better sense of humorand manufacture humorous utterance finally. |
