In creation of the historical documentary, the most important thing is True Restore. Itnot only could remedy for the lack of historical retention of image data, to make the narrativemore complete and smoothly. And also it can take the audience into the scene that the directorwants to show. It makes the audience to feel, to understand the covered history immersively.Use the visual images and film discourse to show the history and our insights ofhistory, it the American historian Hayden White’s new historical view that caused by theNew Historicism, It is right the Historiography of Television and film that we haveknown. In the year of1988,Hayden White took the concept of Historiography of Televisionand film to the western documentary makers by the very first. Two years later, the Taiwanscholar Zhou Liangkai and the Pro Zhang Guangzhi of the History Department FudanUniversity, they took the Television History to the scholars with in cross-strait. Thus theconcept has penetrated into the creations of the mainland Chinese documentaries gradually.By the sensation of historical documentaries like <Forbidden City><Summer Palace><Dunhuang><AD1644> etc., there are more and more scene of True Restore with the styleof traditional Chinese painting and virtual recognized by audience. But at the same time, itmakes some questions by many experts that to using the method of Imaginary, especiallywhen the method of True Restore using into the historical documentaries, it is showing verymixed. What ideological trend makes the True Restore? If it goes against the soul ofdocumentary the truth? How could people use the True Restore better to complete theage-mission of historical documentary?The first chapter of the thesis introduces the historical documentary narrative in the"New Historicism" under the influence of the new strategy. The major changes to thetraditional narrative from the "new historicism" to "Television History" in the creation ofChinese historical documentary exploration and discovery,"New Historicism" ultimatelyaffects the practice of local television historical documentary.The second chapter describes the basic features of the historical documentary, on thebasis of the duty,the charm, explore the relationship between the documentary "real" and"fiction" once again.From90’s of the past century to now on, the historical themes are selected by creationsof documentary, the documentaries’ quantity, quality and the effects of broadcast are allmaking more and more attention. Many local TV stations begin trying discover and createsome City Image Set of urban contextual and power of humanities. From2009to nowChangchun’s TV Station has been make and broadcasted the large-scale historical documentary<Discovering Changchun>more than100phases.<Discover Changchun> is tostart from Changchun’s chronicle, issue, natural and geographical, culture to develop, itmeticulous shows the history, culture, and geographical of Changchun comprehensively. Itgives an account of humanities and anecdotes, natural and cultural heritage attention to verydetail. It not only to be the most important media for urban cultural heritage, and also to be auseful trick for increasing urban identity of the citizen. It is a valuable City Image Set, andthe vivid teaching material for all the Changchun’s citizen to learn the history of the city.The third chapter is the core part of this article.《Discovering Changchun》, for example,the "true representation" approach to the study of historical documentary. Whether it is basedon historical data, witness, or to play for the strategy, video material and the way of tellingstories are ultimately in order to "true representation " of the real history.The fourth chapter, more like a vision, to explore the development trend of the "truerepresentation" means for the historical documentary.In <Discovering Changchun> and other historical documentaries which are at home andabroad, we realize that To restore the true is more and more used for narrative directly andfrequently, the audience also could accept the way of expression. This phenomenon makes thedocumentary workers’recognition who insist on real history can not be restored. But for theTrue Restore, there are so many revelations and value in the meaning of methodology. Itstill needs to be investigate and cognitive deeply.
