This is an introduction to a translation I have done on the book’Why Suya Singing’. The main contents of this paper include the following four sections:1) writing techniques;2) thought processes;3) the author’s main points of view; and4) the colourful linguistic choices in the book.Attached in the appendix is the full translation of the book thus far. The book is written mainly from the translator’s point of view, as a summary and introduction to the main gist of the original. Interspersed with the additional comments informed from the field of Musicology and Music theory, this translation seeks to introduce readers to the book’Why Suya Singing’as well as provide a general working guide towards an academic presentation in the research field of Ethnomusicology.
