Maobahe town locates in the southeast ot Ningqiang County, Shaanxi Province, and it is in the junction between Shaanxi and Sichuan as well. Di, Qiang and other ancient ethnic groups in history have ever thrived in this land and developed a unique culture of Bashan. The Maoshan Song is the local song via accumulation and development of Maobahe people with distinctive local characteristics and a strong local flavor. With the development of society, the labor of farming civilization has changed, the Maoshan song gradually lost the space, in which to produce, grow, inherit and develop. The purpose, content, occasions, singing form of this song have all changed. The research of the Maoshan Song is to analyze the voice patterns and historical and cultural ecology, summarize the nature of art features and cultural values; to explore its historical evolution process, think about the proposition that how to maintain traditional music which ecological environment has changed.The research methods are based on the theories and methods of Ethnomusicology firstly, drawing on the achievements of history and folklore, and with on-the-spot investigation as the basis, and link the Maoshan song to the symbiotic cultural background, and try to be able to reflect the survival status and development process of Maoshan song. And show the historical and cultural information accumulated in Maoshan song via the cultural blending of North-South and variety of language penetration and different customs.This paper will investigate this song through4perspectives. First, to investigate the Maoshan song’s living environment and historical composition. Among them, the "historical composition" chapter is to sort out and analyze the historical development of Maoshan song, via methods of historical research and oral history. Chapter II starts from the study angle of Ethnomusicology, trying to complete representation of the field work sound state; Chapter III investigates the musical modality, conducts the Maoshan song music ontology specific analysis, and try to identify the Maoshan song music components and regularity of features; Chapter IV, starts from an anthropological point of view, and conduct the cultural interpretation of Maoshan song music, and share the points of its inheritance and maintenance issues.
