From the angle of modernity theory, this thesis makes effort to study Wang Mei’s concepts of choreography through analyzing the themes, expressions and social background of her modern dances, as well as her explorations of Chinese modern dance development, the women’s existence in general and her own existence for the purpose of exposing the reality behind her current life. Wang Mei’s choreographic concepts have shown us that when importing the western modern dance, we should pay more attention to its concepts instead of its techniques and choreographic skills alone; and as long as the Chinese choreographers face their existence and their inside world, and express them honestly, they can certainly create the Chinese styled modern dances. |
