Chantal Mouffe is a well-known Western political philosopher, and she is an important representative person of Post-Marxism philosophy, the core content of her theory is her Democracy, which is the theory of "Agonistic Pluralism Democracy". The full paper is divided into four parts, the first part discusses the background of the theory of Agonistic Pluralism Democracy, the second part discusses the basis of the theory, the third part discusses the main content of the theory, the last part discusses the significance and the limitations of the theory. After the end of Cold War and the collapse of Soviet Union, underring the background of profound social changes in the Western world, Liberal Democracy seems to occupy a dominant position in all ideology. In such external environment there also have some positive theories, such as Hegemony of Gramsci, the friends and foes political theory of Carl Schmitt and the Pluralism of John Rawls, which become the theoretical sources for the Democracy of Mouffe. She understands that Socialism can not reject Liberal Democracy completely, so she analyzes and criticizes the Liberal Democratic in-depth, which prompts her to produce a new understanding of Democracy much more radically, all of this make her redefine the "main identity" and creates "Agonistic Democracy" in the framework of Democratic Politics. On the basis of all the efforts, Mouffe puts forward the theory of " Pluralism Democracy", which enriches and enhances the radical theory of Pluralistic DemocraticMouffe emphasizes that democracy must be built on the basis of agonistic and conflict, and these are not only a response to the crisis of the classic Marxism, but also a richness to Western Democratic. Mouffe sees the deficiencies of the classic Democratic and Marxist in solving practical problems, and recognize that the ultimate goal of democracy is analyzing and solving practical problems effectively, so her democracy theory creates a socialist strategy for Western capitalist society, but Mouffe’s democratic theory also has its shortcomings, which is the lack of practical operable. Nevertheless, it still can not deny the progressive significance of her theory, which has many progressive significances, including a strong reference to help us understand the development of Western democratic theory, but also for our country to achieve the construction of socialist democratic politics. Therefore, the study of Mouffe’s democracy theory is very important and necessary.
