In traditional oral teaching classes, the teachers tend to adopt traditional method inwhich the teacher is the center of the class, without paying attention to the students’ actualneeds. This method has become the main trend of oral English teaching. This kind ofteaching method imparts knowledge with huge capacity within less time. However, it alsoconfines students’ language practice activity, and restricts their ability of using language.Needs analysis is a kind of teaching theory and teaching strategies whose basiccharacteristics are interpersonal cooperation and interaction in the teaching course.Therefore, introducing needs analysis to oral English teaching may be a good try inteaching.The paper follows the theoretical framework of needs analysis, and probes oral Englishteaching mode in vocational schools. Through questionnaire, interview and other methodsof data collection, the paper conducts survey and experiment among200students in theCangzhou vocational school. Interview is basically aimed at investigating the students’learning background, learning needs and satisfaction degree of the current situation of oralEnglish teaching. The experiment mainly focuses on the comparison of oral Englishperformance between experimental class and control class after one semester’s oral Englishteaching based on needs analysis. Finally, this paper gives suggestions according toevaluations of oral English learners and problems in oral English teachingThis paper aims to analyze whether need analysis can effectively improve students’oral English. Whether oral English teaching mode based on needs analysis is popular amongstudents. At the same time, the paper also pays attention to the training of students’ learningenthusiasm and interest, attaches importance to cooperation and exchange in the process oflearning oral English, focuses on the interaction between the students, so that mutualcooperation, mutual learning and mutual competition can improve teaching quality.In conclusion, the study paves the way for the reform of English teaching in vocationalschool. The paper contributes to the promotion of vocational school to cultivate new type oftalents so as to serve for the society.
